The consultation fee, and why it exists

Irrigation and lighting questions are rarely quick. Walking a property, testing zones and laying out what a system should actually do is most of the work of designing it. We were giving that away often enough that it was taking time from jobs already on the books, so we charge a small consultation fee for irrigation and lighting visits.

If you go ahead with the work, that fee is credited back to you. Choose us and it is effectively a wash.

What we will and will not quote over the phone

Standard unit items, an irrigation controller for example, we can price over the phone. Systems, repairs of unknown origin and anything involving a property we have not seen, we will not. Quoting those blind reliably produces a surprise for somebody, and it is usually the customer.

Warranty

Irrigation and lighting carry a one year warranty on workmanship and products, with the usual exclusions for things outside our control. We will extend warranty terms further, but only where we maintain the whole property, including irrigation and lawn and plant health care. Even then we cap it at a year. There are too many variables in a Middle Tennessee season for us to responsibly promise beyond that.

Lighting and irrigation are the same crew

We do not treat outdoor lighting as a separate business. The team that handles irrigation handles lighting, so a mid-season irrigation check is also when we look over the lighting. If you are already a maintenance client, that coordination is included rather than scheduled separately.
